WICKER: Capacity of West Side infrastructure enhanced by Wicker Pump Station

West Side Water Tower

FARMERS BRANCH ~ Now fully back online after a fire last year, the Wicker Pump Station, at the ground storage facility near Denton Drive and Wicker Avenue, is greatly enhancing the already vast capacity of Public Works infrastructure on the West Side of Farmers Branch.

The control room of the station was badly damaged in a pre-dawn fire last year and had to be completely refurbished.

Today, the Wicker station pumps water to the emerging area west of I-35E which already enjoys healthy infrastructure with a two million gallon elevated storage tank, 16-inch water lines along Valley View (18-inch along railroad tracks), Luna Road sewer station and the new Mercer sewer station.

Farmers Branch Public Works Director Randy Walhood said the infrastructure installed years ago, coupled with recent improvements, was put in with full development of the West Side in mind.
