FARMERS BRANCH ~ In a continuing effort to improve pedestrian safety at strategic spots, the Farmers Branch Public Works Department has installed solar-powered rapid flash crosswalk signs at three locations.
The rapid flashing of beacons is activated by pressing a button by pedestrians on the pole at the intersections of Valwood at Albemarle, Valley View near William Dodson Parkway and Webb Chapel, near Longmeade.
The amber lights flash in an irregular pattern, much like the lights on a police car, and work with the signs to alert drivers that pedestrians are in the crosswalk.
