FBTX ~ The Farmers Branch Community Recreation Center has moved another step closer to a makeover with Phase 1 renovations being approved by the City Council during their first meeting in October.
The work is anticipated to begin in early November and will be completed by March 2021. The approval of Phase 1 comes at a great time as Farmers Branch was recently recognized by weightlifting website BarBend as one of Texas' Top 50 Cities for a Fit Lifestyle, checking in at number 33.
A new state-of-the-art fitness and recreation center fits the community’s growing interest in health and fitness. The completed Phase 1 will result in an expanded fitness area, an enhanced lobby area, and an upgraded childcare area.
During Phase 1, the multipurpose gym will be transformed into an additional 9,300 square feet of fitness space and an indoor turf area filled with the best in the industry fitness equipment. The additional space will allow for better social distancing.
The renovations will also include an update to the lobby area to create a sleek and inviting atmosphere upon entry. Drip lights and additional light structures will be added along with additional benches and lounging areas. Upgrades will be made to the front desk and flooring to add to the inviting experience.
Also, the iconic Treehouse childcare space will be overhauled and updated to a larger space with more amenities. There will be play structures added for the children to climb and play on. The additional space provides more room for play. This allows the childcare space to accommodate more children than before.
