[ARCHIVED] Firehouse leaps into professional ranks

FBTX ~ Operated as a community theatre since its founding, the Firehouse Theatre in Farmers Branch has joined the Actor’s Equity Association, meaning it has graduated to the ranks of professional theatre.

   According to D Magazine, "The designation is a huge badge of achievement in the theatre world." They went on to credit artistic director Derek Whitener who has "been running Firehouse by union standards since he came on board a couple years ago."DROWSY Chaperone logo

   Becoming a professional theatre means they must pay their artists union wages, follow union labor rules and include at least one union actor in every production. Firehouse is the 10th AEA theater in the area, including Dallas Theater Center, Dallas Children’s Theater and WaterTower Theatre

   The Firehouse Theatre is preparing to reprise a fan favorite with The Drowsy Chaperone, planned for select nights January 30 through February 23.
