At-Home Program

The AT HOME initiative of the Farmers Branch Police Department is designed to improve the safety and security of home-bound residents in Farmers Branch who live alone.

This improvement is accomplished by providing weekly telephone contact with home-bound residents in Farmers Branch. The call, from the Citizens on Patrol logoFarmers Branch Police Department, is to check on the well-being of the resident and to obtain assistance for the resident if needed. Calls, in both English and Spanish, will be made from 9 a.m. until noon, Monday through Friday. Only home-bound residents, who have chosen to participate in the initiative, will be contacted.

How to Enroll

To be included in the AT HOME initiative, any resident of Farmers Branch who is home-bound and lives alone may participate by completing an application.

Applications may be obtained from the Farmers Branch Police Department, the Farmers Branch Senior Center, various churches throughout the city, calling 972.919.9351, or by completing the online application and waiver and release form. Applications can also be delivered to home-bound residents upon request.

How It Works

Residents will be added to a call-list and will receive a telephone call at the contact number on the selected day requested on the application.

Who Will Call

Calls will be made by volunteers of the Farmers Branch Police Department’s Citizens on Patrol organization.

AT HOME is not intended to take the place of personal care or personal checks of the individual.

AT HOME is intended to provide additional, periodic welfare checks by telephone contact with the residents who enroll in the initiative.

In the event there is no communication with the resident on the scheduled call day, a second attempt will be made the following day. If no contact is made on the second attempt, the following procedure shall be implemented:

  • The Primary Contact number (person) will be called. If no contact, then
  • The Secondary Contact number (person) will be called. If no contact, then
  • A request for a Welfare Check will be submitted to the Farmers Branch Police Department.
