June Exhibit

The Farmers Branch Manske Library is proud to display the work of Carlos Martinez in the Art Gallery during the month of June.

Artist Statement

"My artwork is a reflection of who I am today, both socially and culturally. Exploring the vision that art is education.  How it can move you, make you feel a certain way, even give you a different perspective in life. This is why I became an art teacher.

I have experimented in many different forms of creating my work, but I find that placing a pencil to paper can speak in volumes. Because it is so simple and effective, it is my media of choice.

The power of influence is very significant in that it molds your thought process and guides you in life and through my art work I hope to emphasize that.  My family, creating art, people that have changed the world and my favorite past-time, music.

Day of the dead  (Dia de los Muertos) is a time to honor the lives of those people that influenced and made an impression in your life.  I have melted the idea with some iconic musicians.  It is my way of giving thanks s as well as influencing others who have not heard their work.  If I have influenced you to hear their work sometime soon, then my work here was a success."
