Garbage Collection

Garbage service is provided twice per week.
Garbage must be set at the curb or in the alley in plain sight depending on address.
Garbage can be set out no earlier than 6 PM the night before service.
Collection service starts at 7 AM. Material set out after 7 AM may not be collected.
Garbage must be placed within an approved bag or box. Bags used for garbage can not be small carry-out grocery bags. If a box is used the lids must be closed.

It is important to ensure to have your garbage set out by 7 AM as there is no set schedule on collection time for your street and routes are subject to change. Please contact CWD at 972.392.9300 with any service concerns or questions.

Acceptable Containers
Only paper or plastic garbage bags are acceptable for collection. Small grocery bags are not considered garbage bags. Service may be affected as CWD does not service garbage cans. Items must be removed from container for service to resume as normal.

Residential Garbage Collection Holiday Schedule
CWD observes three holidays a year:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
If your regular garbage collection falls on any of these holidays, service will resume on your next regular service day.

Brush & Bulky (Green Grabber) Service

Brush and bulky collection, or "Green Grabber" service, is provided by City staff once per week.
All material must be set out behind the curb and no in the street.  There is no alley collection.
Bagged material must be set out with garbage.
Items must be no longer than 8 - 10 feet in length.
Items set out for collection, should be placed 3 feet away from mailboxes, trees, poles, and other obstructions.

To make sure which day the Green Grabber will be in your neighborhood view or download the
Garbage Pickup / Green Grabber Schedule.  Ensure to have bulk items out on curbside as service begins at 7 a.m. and typically runs through 3 p.m.

Wednesday Special Waste Pick-Up
The City provides a “Special Waste” Pick-Up each Wednesday.  You must call the Public Works office at 972.919.2597 prior to Wednesday for this service and your items must be out by 7 a.m.  The only items that are picked up at this time are motor oil, oil filters, car or boat batteries, glass panes, mirrors, and car or truck tires.  We DO NOT pick up paint or pesticides.

The City partners with the Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center providing a free disposal service of hazardous household waste for our residents.  The Home Chemical Collection Center is located at 11234 Plano Road, Dallas 75243. A list of all approved items for disposal, hours of operation and other facts may be found at Dallas County's Household Hazardous Waste Program.

Camelot Landfill
The City of Farmers Branch owns the Camelot Landfill located in Lewisville.  The Camelot Landfill is a Type I municipal solid waste disposal facility. The site accepts municipal solid waste from Farmers Branch as well as other cities in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area.

Farmers Branch residents may take trash and other debris to the landfill for disposal, with proof of residency (i.e., drivers license, utility bill).  The Camelot Landfill is located at 580 Huffines Boulevard in Lewisville.  Take I-35 north to Highway 121 Business (exit 450).  Go east on Highway 121 for about three miles then right on Huffines.  Hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Contact the Camelot Landfill at 972.492.3888.

Citizen Collection Center
This facility is located at 1399 Valley View Lane and serves Farmers Branch residents only. Hours of operation are Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. No commercial vehicles or contractors will be allowed use of the site. This location features drive up dumpsters to drop off large trash and debris, along with regular household garbage and recycling items. There is no cost for Farmers Branch residents to use the Citizen Collection Center. Contact Shane Davis with questions about this facility at 972.919.2614.

Cease the Grease
Residents can properly dispose of fats, oils and grease by using strainers to catch food scraps, refraining from using the garbage disposal and collecting cooking grease in a sealed container for disposal.  Once fats, oil and grease have been collected in a disposable container, place it beside the trash at your normal pickup site for disposal.  If possible, oil should be mixed with cat litter to help solidify the oil being disposed.

Residents can also take advantage of the “Cease the Grease” initiative.  There is a drop-off location at Brookhaven College, 3939 Valley View Lane on the West side of the baseball field.  Additional information about the Cease the Grease program can also be found at
