FARMERS BRANCH ~ Poised for a seamless transition, 22-year FBPD veteran David Hale has been appointed Farmers Branch Chief of Police by City Manager Charles Cox.

Succeeding the retired Sid Fuller, Chief Hale brings a wealth of law enforcement training and experience to the Chief’s office.

David Hale joined the Farmers Branch Police Department in 1994, was promoted to corporal in 1998, sergeant in 2000 and Deputy Chief in 2004. He served as Interim Police Chief from January through August of 2006.

City Manager Charles Cox said that Chief Hale was a logical choice.

“David’s experience speaks for itself,” he said. “I can think of no better person to be in charge of keeping all of us safe and secure in this marvelous city that we call home.”

Chief Hale is a 1991 graduate of Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. He graduated the Texas Engineering Extension Service Police Academy in 1991 and the Southwest Legal School of Police Supervision in 1999.

Beyond that, he also graduated from the FBI National Academy in 2007 and the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas in 2009.

He is an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Texas and North Texas Police Chiefs Associations as well as chairman of the Training Advisory Board of the North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Police Academy.

Locally, Chief Hale is a member of the Carrollton/Farmers Branch Rotary Club, chairs the annual Battle of the Badges blood drive, is a mentor for students at Vivian Field Middle School and volunteers at the food pantry for Metrocrest Services.
