FARMERS BRANCH ~ Drawing on a wealth of expertise and institutional knowledge, the Farmers Branch City Council named Managing Director and long-time Finance Director Charles S. Cox to be the next City Manager of the growing community.

"I’m excited, humbled, and honored to move into this new role, and very glad to have such an incredible team to help me in this transition,” Mr. Cox said after his appointment. "Exciting things are happening in our City and I look forward to working with our dynamic elected officials, dedicated volunteers and outstanding City staff as we move forward.”

A 24-year veteran of the Farmers Branch staff, Mr. Cox began his municipal government career in Haltom City where he served from 1986 to 1993.

He is a 1983 graduate of Texas Christian University where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and of Southern Methodist University where he took his Master of Business Administration degree in 1991.

Active in professional circles, Mr. Cox is past president of the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas, and of the GFOA of the United States and Canada.

Additionally, he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation since 2013.

Under Mr. Cox’s administration, the Farmers Branch Finance Department has been honored dozens of times for excellence in financial reporting and government transparency.

Mr. Cox replaces Gary D. Greer who resigned earlier this year after spending nearly nine years at the helm in Farmers Branch.
