[ARCHIVED] CCC to open special hours on Wednesday for storm-related brush

FBTX ~ In an effort to assist residents who are able to dispose of their own storm-related brush, the City of Farmers Branch will again open the Citizen Collection Center on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. staffed by Farmers Branch Police Department Citizen On Patrol volunteers.

The CCC will also be open its normal schedule, Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 1399 Valley View Lane, for residents to drop off large trash and debris, regular household garbage and recycling items and electronics for e-recycling.

For anyone not able to transport their own brush to the CCC:

  • Green Grabber crews will be working overtime this week to pick up brush left behind by Sunday's severe storms. An extra truck has been added to the Green Grabber effort.
  • Crews will be working their regular routes, but extra hours, trying to get through as many areas as possible by the weekend. However, with the scope of the cleanup, efforts could extend into next week.
  • No one will be penalized during this period for putting brush out too early.
  • Patience is appreciated as crews work diligently to clear storm damaged brush.
  • Residents are reminded not to mingle bulk with brush as the next Bulk collection week begins Monday, July 1.

Other Storm Related Updates:

  • ONCOR reports that as many as 1,200 homes in Farmers Branch were still without power at midday today. However, they added that 2,500 new workers, from 11 states, joined the restoration effort today.
  • PARKS crews are working as fast as they can to clear storm damage from City parks. However, there are still quite a few hanging tree limbs. Caution is advised in Parks for the rest of the week until crews can address all storm damaged limbs and trees.
  • AQUATICS CENTER & MANSKE LIBRARY have power and are open for business.
  • REC CENTER is again open til 9 p.m. for any Farmers Branch resident without power, regardless of membership, who needs to cool off or charge a phone.
