Thirty years after the Ramses the Great touring exhibit spent time at Dallas’ Fair Park, local collector and Egyptologist Rollin Phipps is showcasing his own collection of Egyptian artifacts with the exhibit Remembering Ramses the Great: The 30th Anniversary, January 5 through February 28 at the Library.
Phipps hopes to remind the public of the spectacular exhibit from 1989 and educate today’s young people about the artistry of the ancient Egyptian people. The exhibit will feature replicas of dishes, wine cups, the Swimming Lady, the Plaque of Seti I, two panels from the original 1989 display as well as a number of authentic pieces from the era of Ramses the Great.
Phipps will present a discussion on Egyptian Mummies on February 5, as well as a kids' program on the Wonders of Egypt on February 21.
