Park After Dark: Moonshine & Misfits: A Vintage Cocktail Speakeasy

Travel back in time to the Roaring 20s for a prohibition themed night of food, fun, and the forbidden drink. Solve clues and uncover the passwords to enjoy bootlegged cocktails at numerous secretive speakeasies located on the grounds of the Farmers Branch Historical Park. Learn how to make classic cocktails and “bathtub gin” while discovering the sordid history behind the temperance movement and the ill-fated prohibition-era. Raise a glass to the past, but remember – you were never here. . .

Bring the family to the Historical Park and learn about the birds of the night.  The Blackland Prairie Raptor Center will be on hand with live owls for a show and tell.  Weather permitting, the event will conclude with a prowl for owls led by Master Naturalist, Steve Romaine.

Bring your young and school-aged children to trick or treat and experience the Manske Library’s “Boo-Ville” area during this come and go event.  Wear a costume and come to trick or treat at the log cabins, School House, Caboose, Queen Anne Victorian Cottage, and more! Characters will be on hand to distribute candy on a first-come, first-served basis, and to pose for pictures with your little ones.
