The Victorian Fencing Society will be offering free demonstrations.   Come and watch, learn and practice the late 19th century art of swordplay with foils and sabres.  Gentleman and ladies of all ages are encouraged to come and enjoy.   No experience is necessary.

Park After Dark:  Grown-Up Game Night – History Themed Board Games

Ages 16 +; BYOB for 21 + up with ID
Fee: $8 per person; space is limited and pre-registration is required


Got game?  We do!  Mark your calendars for this fun-filled evening of history-related board games, life-size strategy games, and a retro-themed candy bar stocked with your favorite sweet treats from childhood.  New and retro board games will be provided, or bring your favorites from home.  Includes light refreshments and non-alcoholic drinks, or BYOB with ID.

Bring your own picnic and enjoy the sunset.  The Texas Astronomical Society will provide a variety of telescopes for viewing the moon, Star Clusters, Open Star Clusters, Globular Star Clusters, Planetary Nebulae, and summer constellations.   In addition, participants are encouraged to bring their own telescopes.

Fairy Garden

Fairy Garden Workshop


Saturday, August 8 from 1 to 3 pm


Fee:  $25 per kit includes one garden and all supplies; space is limited and pre-registration is required.

Come join the Historical Park and Home Depot to create your very own unique Fairy Garden. All you need is a little imagination and we will supply the rest. During this two-hour workshop, we will help guide you in designing a fun and exciting miniature landscape. Fairy gardens are ideal for all ages and creative abilities. A parent or guardian is encouraged to work with their child to create their masterpiece.

Join us for a History of... lecture series! August 18, 2020 marks the 100th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote in the United States.  Learn more about the fight for the 19th Amendment to be ratified, and the fight for ALL women to vote that continued after its passing.
